Broadwell's fine art work and feel free to contact him with

GENERAL INFORMATION
David Broadwell's knives are
guaranteed for life as long as he is able to make repairs.
Broadwell's pens are guaranteed for 5 years. Natural
materials and obvious abuse are not covered. The finest
materials are used in his creations, and proper care is
taken to finish them according to their kind, but some
materials move around and other materials can oxidize, so
the finish can not be covered. Having stated that, if you
have any problems with your knife or pen, please contact
Broadwell and they will be taken care of in an appropriate
manner.
HANDMADE vs. JIGS, FIXTURES AND CNC
In this day and age many knife makers
are using high tech computer controlled machine tools to
produce their work, turning them into more of a computer
programmer than a craftsman. That's not Broadwell's way.
Occasionally Broadwell will produce what is known as a
"mid-tech" knife or pen. Some outside work such as water jet
cutting or other machine work may be called for that will
reduce some time on the most basic procedures, mainly time
at a band saw or laying out holes for drilling. These items
are usually listed as "Limited Editions". However, even on
these and certainly on his one of a kind knives and pens,
Broadwell uses his hands to do as much work as can be done.
Grinding jigs have become popular, but they severely limit
what can be done at the grinder. Broadwell's grinds are
complex and must be accomplished freehand. This maximizes
the personal skills and minimizes the machining aspect of
his creations. It also gives what has been called "soul" to
his work, something that just isn't present in pieces coming
out of a computer controlled machine.
