The Solvang Dagger

When I was invited to the Solvang Custom Knife show I wanted to something extreme, something special, something more than I had ever done before. Engraver and friend, Ray Cover, wanted to be part of that project. At Blade Show 2022 I sketched out the knife for him and he started formulating plans for what he wanted to do. At this point the knife is essentially finished, it just needs to be assembled. And it would be assembled if it weren’t for the incompetence of the USPS. The handle components are sitting in a postal center in Coppel, TX which, from what I’ve been told, is known as a black hole to postal workers. It may be day or weeks before the parts arrive. At the time of this writing we will be on an airplane to Solvang in 48 hours.

The 10″ long blade is Bill Poor feathered patterned Damascus. The fittings are bronze and the handle is composed of a bronze frame with a mix of titanium and bronze scales. Engraving by Ray Cover.
